Inflation fears fuel bond rise

Expectations of future rises in inflation rose on Wednesday in bond markets to the highest level since the Bank of England gained independence 11 years ago.

The price of inflation-linked gilts soared and yields fell to lows as they sharply outperformed conventional paper because of increasing concerns over rising prices.
