Asian exporters cut forecasts for 2009

South Korea, Indonesia and the Philippines on Thursday each set out pessimistic forecasts for 2009 exports, underscoring the continued gloom about economic prospects.

The Ministry of Knowledge Economy in South Korea, Asia’s fourth largest economy, said it now expects exports to fall 13.5 percent over the year, a sharp revision from a bullish 1.1 per cent rise forecast in December.
