Germany handed final warning over VW law

The battle over Volkswagen's controversial corporate governance resurfaced on Tuesday when the European Commission issued a final warning to Germany, threatening to take the country to court over a law that protects the car company against hostile takeovers.

A spokesman for Charlie McCreevy, European Union internal markets commissioner, said he intended to push ahead with legal action over the so-called VW law.
