Kennedy attacks Cameron to regain party grip

Charles Kennedy, Liberal Democrat leader, will seek to re-establish his grip over the party today with a stinging attack on David Cameron, the new Conservative leader, urging voters not to desert the Lib Dems for the Tories.

In a new year message that reveals the anxiety felt by the Lib Dems and their leader about the apparent revival of Tory fortunes, Mr Kennedy derides Mr Cameron as the "newest kid on the block" who is "simply reaping rewards for being fresh".
