FTSE loses gains for 2007 as banks and miners retreat

Capita defied the downward trend that saw the London market suffer another session of heavy losses which erased the FTSE100’s gains for the year and left the blue-chip index at its lowest level in seven weeks.

The outsourcing company, which runs London’s congestion charging system, rose after Deutsche Bank urged clients to take advantage of the recent turmoil in global markets and pick up some cheap Capita stock.
