Currencies: Bookmakers and banks move in on the territory

Rising trading volumes in the spread betting market have proven an irresistible lure for bookmakers and banks, many of whom are now offering their own services.

While greater competition could result in lower costs for clients, there is speculation that the market has been so saturated there are no longer enough clients or trades to go around.
