FCC head questioned on cable TV data

A rift has emerged within the Federal Communications Commission as Kevin ­Martin, the media and ­telecommunications regulator’s Republican chairman, pushes to expand his authority over the cable television industry.

Two fellow Republican commissioners on Wednesday broke ranks to question the “trustworthiness” and “truthfulness” of data being used by Mr Martin to argue in favour of increased oversight of the industry.
