Size of gender gap in top jobs 'woeful'

Women remain "woefully under-represented" in boardrooms, parliament, the top judiciary and the senior civil service, and are struggling to close the gender gap in positions of power, says the Equal Opportunities Commission.

In some sectors the num-ber of women in senior positions has actually fallen, says the watchdog in its last report on gender discrimination in the workplace before it is merged into the Commission for Equality and Human Rights in October.
