France's PM calls for new economic dialogue

Dominique de Villepin, France's prime minister, says Europe should respond to its latest crisis by pressing ahead with ambitious projects, such as genuine economic government for the eurozone and European research institutes - based in France.

"Europe must take the initiative. Our peoples want a new political Europe, with a capacity for action, a conscience and a moral code," he writes in today's FT.
