Military tribunals are not the way

The decision by military prosecutors to seek the death penalty for six Guantánamo Bay prisoners linked to the September 11 2001 al-Qaeda attacks on New York and Washington looks like a final attempt to jumpstart an already failed and discredited process.

It should be abandoned in favour of bringing the accused to trial by due process in US federal courts.
