Cotton prices soar in US

Cotton prices have returned to levels last seen before the collapse of Lehman Brothers as the economic recovery brightens the outlook for demand.

Benchmark cotton futures soared past 67 cents a pound on Wednesday on the ICE Futures US exchange, taking their gains since March to 68 per cent.
