Ill winds threaten US housing’s green shoots

It is sunny, bright and the location is excellent. But the studio apartment in downtown Manhattan now on the market for $446,000 is more likely to be listed for a much lower price in the coming months.

According to new forecasts, New York house prices will drop another 40 per cent before hitting a bottom. So far, the prices are down almost 20 per cent from their 2007 peak.
