Lamont tells Cameron to outline policies

David Cameron has been warned by Lord Lamont, his former boss, to come up with “policy content” addressing traditional Conservative concerns about tax, crime and immigration or risk alienating the party’s grassroots.

The former chancellor, who employed Mr Cameron as his special adviser at the Treasury from 1992-93, is one of the most senior Conservatives to express concern about the Tory leader’s lack of policy substance and his sidelining of core issues.
