Taiwan stocks fall as Chen vows tough China stance

Taiwan stocks plunged on Monday after government pledges to prioritise policies strengthening the island’s de-facto independence over increased economic ex-changes with China.

The market fell 1.3 per cent to 6462.06, with transport and tourism stocks suffering the largest declines as investors’ confidence in imminent closer links with China was dealt a blow.
