Democratic leaders in Congress responsible for economic policy are calling some legislators back to Washington before the November election for a new round of hearings on the financial crisis.

Next Thursday, the Senate banking committee is expected to hold a session to examine the roots of the crisis, and on October 21, the House financial services committee will look at the need to overhaul US financial regulation.
