EU launches new Microsoft antitrust probe

The European Commission on Monday opened its first new anti-trust campaign against Microsoft since the late 1990s, in the process challenging parts of the company’s core technology strategy.

The case was prompted by complaints filed over the past two years by Microsoft’s competitors against a range of its software, including its internet browser, Office worker-productivity applications and email tools.
