Hot Topic, the youth fashion retailer, on Wednesday reported a 19 per cent increase in fourth quarter profits, supported by strong sales of clothing and accessories linked to the successful vampire film Twilight.
The retailer’s earnings of $14.2m were supported by an 8.2 per cent increase in comparable sales at its 681 Hot Topic stores which are focused around rock and music culture. It also operates 159 Torrid brand stores, and internet sites that include Shockhound.com, a new site that combines digital music downloads and physical merchandise.
