Derivatives crackdown hangs over commodities

Energy and commodity groups are bracing themselves for US legislation that would regulate their little-known sideline business of financial derivatives dealing for the first time.

The derivatives, such as swaps, allow their clients to buy insurance against volatile commodities prices.
