Lithuania GDP fall highlights economic woes

Lithuania on Tuesday revealed the full extent of economic turmoil sweeping the Baltic states when it announced a 22.4 per cent decline in gross domestic product during the second quarter.

The steeper-than-expected drop raised doubts about the country’s ability to survive the crisis without international help and increased concern about the plight of neighbouring Latvia and Estonia.
