Brown under pressure to find new ideas

The prime minister will this week try to regain the political initiative with a new legislative package including bills to control immigration, tackle terrorism, raise the school-leaving age to 18 and increase housebuilding.

But the measures in Tuesday’s Queen’s Speech were largely trailed by Gordon Brown in July, and the prime minister is facing pressure to come up with fresh ideas to flesh out his “vision for change in Britain”.
