Taxpayer to fund £19m TV channel for teachers

The full £19m annual cost of a new digital television channel for teachers is to be borne by the government after it shelved plans to seek business sponsorship.

The Department for Education and Skills made the decision because of fears that private sector branding would alienate the school workforce just as the fledgling channel tries to attract viewers.
