Russia threatens to double gas price to Georgia

Gazprom, Russia’s natural gas company, on Thursday threatened to double prices to neighbouring Georgia next year, stepping up the economic pressure amid a tense dispute with the Caucasus republic.

The price demand was made public while Gela Bezhuashvili, Georgian foreign minister, was in Moscow for talks with Sergei Lavrov, his Russian counterpart, aimed at defusing the diplomatic crisis between the two countries.
