Delta steps up fight against bankruptcy

Delta intends to seek more debt-for-equity exchanges and a further deferral of its pension obligations as part of its efforts to avert bankruptcy.

The US airline, crippled by high fuel prices, industry overcapacity and heavy pension costs, faces criticism that its restructuring has not done enough to cut debt.
