Commercial paper begins to stabilise

The asset-backed commercial paper market grew for the first time since the summer credit crunch began, according to data from the Federal Reserve yesterday.

Breaking a run of 20 consecutive weekly declines, the total size of the ABCP market rose $26.3bn to a seasonally adjusted $773.8bn for the week ending January 2.
