Tube company mismanaged, says watchdog

Taxpayers have been saddled with a bill of up to £410m after catastrophic mismanagement at Metronet led to the Tube maintenance company’s collapse, the government spending watchdog said on Friday.

In a damning report that will raise questions over the use of Public Private Partnerships, the National Audit Office said Metronet failed predominantly because its poor corporate governance and leadership meant it could not manage contractors.
