Global flu fight needs $10bn, says WHO

Governments need to invest up to $10bn (€8bn, £5.3bn) to meet future demand for pandemic flu vaccines and avert a potential public health crisis, a World Health Organisation study warned yesterday.

The Global Action Plan called for an increase in the use of existing seasonal flu vaccines to stimulate increased production, new techniques to boost yields and longer-term research and development work to design more effective vaccines.
