Urban falls as debt hits Y255bn

Urban Corporation, a condominium developer, yesterday filed for court protection against creditors, in the biggest failure of a Japanese public company in six years.

Urban, listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, collapsed with debts of Y255bn ($2.3bn), becoming the latest victim of the credit crunch that has hit the Japanese property sector.
