Intel hit by fresh allegations in EU probe

European regulators last night beefed up their long-running antitrust complaint against Intel, alleging that the world's largest manufacturer of computer chips used rebates to persuade a retailer to sell Intel-based personal computers only.

The move is the latest twist in a long-running probe into Intel, which began nearly seven years ago, after a complaint from Advanced Micro Devices, the US company's smaller rival.
