Russia expects ‘strenuous’ talks over EU pact

European Union negotiations with Russia on a long-term partnership agreement, postponed after the war in Georgia in August but due to restart soon, will be long and difficult, diplomats said on Wednesday.

Vladimir Chizhov, Russia’s ambassador to the EU and its chief negotiator, said: “You can imagine that we’re in for a really strenuous and time-consuming exercise.”
