Bibby Line, headquartered on Liverpool’s Duke street, is Britain’s oldest surviving shipping company and one of the city’s great corporate success stories.
Sir Michael Bibby, the current managing director, is the sixth generation to run a business founded by John Bibby, who began a regular passenger shipping service from Parkgate on the Wirral to Dublin in 1807. The early years of Harland and Wolff, the Belfast shipyard, were underpinned by orders for Bibby Line ships.
