Recession spurs migrant workers to leave

Large numbers of eastern European workers are quitting Britain to return home in the most dramatic sign yet that the recession is stemming the flow of mass migration to the UK.

Figures released by the Office for National Statistics on Wednesday showed the number of people from eastern Europe leaving Britain more than doubled in the year to September 2008.
