Siemens looks to settle bribery allegations

Siemens expects next month to start talks with US authorities to settle allegations of massive global bribery, a sign the German industrial conglomerate hopes to put large parts of the sprawling scandal behind it this year.

This would allow chief executive Peter Loescher, who took charge of a scandal-shaken management board only last spring, to focus on maintaining the group’s good performance as the world economic outlook dims.
