Leaks that undermine France’s financial gendarme

The Autorité des Marchés Financiers is still a relatively young regulator. It was established nearly five years ago when the French authorities decided to merge the three different bodies that had previously policed the country’s financial markets.

The idea was to streamline the whole system, bringing it closer to the market and making it more efficient. To this end, the AMF was given resources to strengthen its investigative and international teams.
