ECB’s liquidity measures in spotlight

Bank stocks were under pressure across Europe on Wednesday as investors fretted about the threat of a restriction of liquidity from the European Central Bank.

ECB policymakers will discuss a crackdown on the abuse of financial market liquidity-supporting operations at their meeting on Thursday after clear hints from a number of board members that significant rule changes are in the pipeline.
