London higher as miners and oils shine

Mining and oil stocks led another rebound on the FTSE 100 on Wednesday as investors welcomed Anglo American’s plans to return cash to shareholders.

The FTSE 100 finished 45.7 points or 0.9 per cent higher at 5,227.8. The FTSE 250 index continued to make inroads into last week’s losses, rising 97.8 points or 1.3 per cent to 7,633.4.
