German business confidence slipped this month to its lowest since reunification of the country in 1990, but glimmers of hope have emerged that conditions will stabilise in coming months.

The Munich-based Ifo institute reported on Wednesday that its business climate index dropped from 82.6 in February to 82.1 in March, the lowest since the pan-German survey began in January 1991.
