Wall Street higher ahead of holiday

US stocks ended higher on Monday in light trading as markets closed early ahead of the Fourth of July holiday.

At the close, the S&P 500 was up 0.8 per cent, or 9.99 points, at 1,280.19, while the Nasdaq Composite was also up 0.8 per cent, or 18.34 points, at 2,190.43. The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.7 per cent, or 77.80 points, to 11,228.02.
