NatWest Bank is increasing its charges for using debit cards overseas by up to two thirds.

Customers learnt of the rise through leaflets accompanying their current ac-count monthly statements, disclosing that higher charges would apply to overseas transactions from June 1. The move, which comes as the summer holiday season gets into full swing, is the latest in a series of incremental fee increases by current account and credit card providers, as they seek new sources of profits to compensate for a cap imposed by the Office of Fair Trading on charges for missed credit card payments.
