Likelihood of climate treaty delay grows

Achieving a new global treaty on climate change could take another year, a senior UK official said in Barcelona on Thursday at the latest round of United Nations talks to forge a fresh global plan to tackle greenhouse gas emissions.

This prediction is double the length of time predicted by both the European Union and the UN, which have said they expect a treaty about six months after next month’s UN climate change summit in Copenhagen.
