National Express won overwhelming support from its shareholders for its £360m rights issue, despite opposition to the fundraising from Jorge Cosmen, the deputy chairman and largest shareholder. He had led a vociferous public campaign against the exercise.
The extraordinary meeting was billed as a showdown between National Express and Mr Cosmen. But as John Devaney, chairman, said, “there was no bun fight” and the meeting was over in 30 minutes.
