Climate protesters fail to halt Drax

Climate change protesters failed in their attempt to shut down Drax, the UK’s largest power station, which continued to operate as normal. But some protesters did manage to get inside the perimeter fence and the police made 38 arrests.

Speaking to the Financial Times on Thursday, Dorothy Thompson, Drax’s chief executive, said she sympathised with the protesters’ aim of raising the issue of greenhouse gas emissions. But she said targeting Drax was unfair because the coal-fired power station was the most efficient in the UK.
