Obama healthcare drive faces critical vote

US President Barack Obama, faces the next big test of its push for healthcare reform Saturday evening when the Senate meets to decide whether to proceed to a debate on its $848bn draft legislation.

In the run-up to the rare Saturday session, Harry Reid, leader of the Democrats in the Senate, and other pro-reform senators tried to rally more sceptical colleagues to get the bill past a procedural vote.
