Many of the premier film awards for 2005 are likely to go to low-budget, serious movies for gown-ups, according to the list of Hollywood Foreign Press Association Golden Globe nominees, published on Tuesday.

The association's choices are often trusty indicators of the winners of the ultimate prizes - the Oscars handed out at the Academy Awards - and the media coverage always provides considerable free publicity for the films and the associated talent.
