Pakistan makes gains in south Waziristan

Pakistan’s military on Thursday said it was poised to seize control of the last town known to have been used by the Taliban for training of suicide bombers and other militants in the country’s south Waziristan region.

The military launched a major offensive in south Waziristan, close to the Afghan border, last month which triggered a series of attacks on urban centres in Pakistan.
