Like many people, I’ve had India on my mind lately, although my guess is that what I’ve been thinking about the country – after, of course, big geopolitical questions like, “Will they retaliate?” and “What will secretary of state nominee Hillary Clinton do (and if she visits Pakistan next year, what colour trouser suit will she wear)?” – is not what they’ve been thinking.

Fashion, as the world outside may or may not know, has been having an increasingly hot’n’heavy affair with the subcontinent, and I’m wondering if a break-up is imminent. And if it is, what does that mean for Alexander McQueen’s Christmas sales?
