Pope’s visit to US will underline Iraq split

Pope Benedict XVI on Tuesday arrived in the US on a visit that has led the White House to claim a powerful bond with the pontiff but which is also likely to demonstrate continuing differences over Iraq.

In an unprecedented welcome, George W. Bush, US president, met the Pope upon his arrival at Andrews air force base in Maryland.
