Carphone shares plunge 14% after loss of Vodafone contract

Carphone Warehouse's shares plunged 14 per cent on Thursday after Vodafone said it would no longer use Europe's biggest mobile phone retailer to sign up UK customers on monthly pay contracts.

It came as analysts warned that Carphone could lose 500,000 of the 1.5m broadband customers it is inheriting via the acquisition of Time Warner's AOL internet access business in the UK.
