The sharper FT

Published: April 23 2007 03:00 | Last updated: April 23 2007 03:00

The Financial Times has a new look today. Busy readers will find the news pages easier to scan for the data and information they need to do their jobs. The design changes will also deepen the links between the newspaper and FT.com, an essential tool in an age of around-the-clock news coverage.

In addition, the new-look FT will improve navigation around the two main sections. Corporate stories in the second section will be clearly labelled by sector. Our markets coverage includes more space for analysis of important trends, including private equity and hedge fund activity.

And we will bring some exciting additions to our unrivalled team of columnists and commentators. Clive Crook, formerly deputy editor of the Economist and publisher of Atlantic Monthly, will be joining us as a weekly Washington columnist, among others.

Our readers can rely on the FT for a well-organised, concise account of globally significant developments in business, finance and politics. Our commentary offers a range of independent analysis and opinion. That is why, today, we return to the motto of the original FT launched in 1888: Without fear and without favour. The changes in today's FT are designed to enhance our traditional strengths. This is not a new FT, but it is sharper. To faithful and new readers alike: a hearty welcome.
