Goldman Sachs hit by D Bank defection

Basil Geoghegan, who played a key role in the restructuring of Britain’s banks, has surprised the City by quitting Goldman Sachs for Deutsche Bank.

Mr Geoghegan, 40, was head of Goldman’s UK financial institutions group and played a crucial role in advising the UK Treasury about options for Northern Rock last year before the mortgage bank’s eventual nationalisation.
