This is an edited version of the interview MK Narayanan (MKN), India’s National Security Advisor, gave to Karan Thapar (KT), CNBC TV18’s India Tonight presenter. The discuss India’s relation ship with the new Barack Obama administration.

KT: Mr. Narayanan let’s talk about the sort of relationship India can expect to have with the new American president. As you know, there is nervousness in many quarters in Delhi. The US president Obama seems to link his fight with the Taliban and Al-Qaeda, which is his declared top priority, with the solution to Kashmir. And in the interviews he has given to Time magazine and NBC he has more of less said it directly. How do you respond to this line of thinking?
